As the club project manager behind the move to the redeveloped Adelaide Oval, this 3 year project culminated in the club’s nationally acclaimed opening at the Showdown with the Adelaide Crows on March 29, 2014.

SO Strategic assisted the club and the AFL in:

  • Club Board and CEO representation on all project development committees
  • Commercial strategy and implementation management with key AFL, Club and State Government delegates for both the “corporate” and “consumer” markets
  • Football “high performance” and Stadium infrastructure capital project implementation
  • Market development plans for all respective club departments as the key Adelaide Oval strategist e.g. Marketing, Corporate Sales, Membership, Merchandise

Port Adelaide Football Club - High Performance Academy

The Port Adelaide Football Club and University of South Australia have embarked on a "first of it's kind" High Performance Academy where Elite AFL Training methods are developed into post graduate education programs.

SO Strategic was engaged on behalf of the Port Adelaide Football Club to:

  • Project manage the development of the strategy and program with a view toward the long-term Master of High Performance Sport
  • Develop feasibilities, business models and ongoing commercial management practices through operational control
  • Engage best practice marketing and brand development personnel to build local, national and international recognition and awareness

SO Strategic was engaged by the ACH Group to consolidate and develop the sales strategy for the group post deregulation of Aged Care Services from 2017

This included:

  • Consolidation of departmental thinking into a unified position
  • Recommendations on organisational structure with regard to inbound and outbound business development
  • Observations on critical cultural ethos and the transition required to a sales environment

SO Strategic was engaged by the Shareholders of the rapidly growing Blubuilt whioch operates in the Civil and Commercial building sectors to develop the 5 Year Strategic Plan

The focus for the Strategic Plan and SO Strategic was:

  • Consolidation of the governance and business structure post ownership changes
  • Development of a new brand identity, marketing platforms including website and digital presence to expand national awareness
  • Embark on a growth strategy into the critical sectors of Mining, Oli and Gas, Electricty, SA Water and Commercial Building broadly

Steve Olech of SO Strategic was subsequently appointed to the Advisory Board to continue ongoing strategy and brand development focus

Adelaide Strikers - Big Bash League

In 2011, when Cricket Australia embarked on the development of a rival T20 Cricket competition to others around the world, each state’s commercial business model was under scrutiny. The South Australian Cricket Association engaged SO Strategic to develop the full business strategy and implementation program for the development of the Adelaide Strikers T20 Big Bash League team.

This included:

  • “New business” strategy  for the team and operations strategy with Cricket Australia
  • Development of sponsorship, sales and marketing / brand planning
  • Review and integration of T20 changes within existing SACA operations including venue agreement, shareholders agreements and resource / structure recommendations
  • Private Investment (from India) model development and stakeholder management

SO Strategic was engaged to develop the tender and associated presentations for Ross Contractors' major client. In addition, a disaster recovery and contingency plan was developed as a requirement of this contract.

After negotiating a 5 year deal with leading international apparel brand ISC, for the Port Adelaide Football Club, SO Strategic developed a preliminary strategy for expanding and maximising the sponsorship and community footprint for this leading sports apparel company.

This recommendation included:

  • A review of all current sports team apparel arrangements across the AFL, NRL, A-League and Super 15’s to optimise their ROI
  • Leveraging and re-negotiating the above marketing partnerships to expand its recently developed “online portal” to expand through the lucrative schools and local sporting club markets nationally

SO Strategic was engaged to develop the Fresh 92.7 Strategic Plan (2015-2019). The process and outcome focused on:

  • Consolidation of all organisational structure, best practice talent development and staffing gap analysis
  • Expansion programs for the Fresh 92.7 content both on-air and digitally speaking
  • Development of client tailored sales solution strategy
  • Engagement of the State Government, Adelaide City Council and various industry bodies in support the Fresh desire to lead music training and talent development - on and off the air!
